Sekilas Tentang Abon 
Abon adalah makanan yang yang terbuat dari serat daging. Penampilannya biasanya berwarna cokelat terperinci sampai kehitaman. Abon tampak mirip serat, alasannya yaitu didominasi oleh serat-serat otot yang mengering. Karena kering, abon biasanya abadi disimpan berminggu-minggu sampai berbulan-bulan dalam kemasan kedap udara. Selain dari materi dasar daging, ada beberapa abon yang berbahan dasar ikan, mirip ikan tuna, ikan lele, dan belut.
Abon biasanya dimakan sebagai lauk taburan di atas nasi atau bubur ayam, atau sebagai isi lemper. Di Indonesia, daging yang biasa dipakai untuk menciptakan abon berasal dari daging sapi, sehingga orang mengenal 'abon sapi'. Selain daging sapi, materi lain yang dipakai yaitu ayam, babi, ikan, dan kambing. Di China, abon yang paling lazim yaitu abon daging babi yang disebut rousong. Sentra pembuatan abon sapi di Indonesia ketika ini ada di kawasan Boyolali, Solo, Salatiga, dan sekitarnya. Sedangkan pusat pembuatan abon babi terdapat di Bali.

Proses Pembuatan Abon Daging 
Potongan daging yang telah dibumbui dengan garam dan kecap, direbus dan dididihkan, sehingga serat-serat daging mulai terlepas dan gampang disuwir-suwir. Hal ini alasannya yaitu kandungan kolagen dan elastin zat pengikat otot telah larut oleh air rebusan. Daging yang mulai tercerai-berai hasil rebusan ini lalu dikeringkan, sanggup dengan cara dijemur atau memakai oven. Setelah itu daging ini disangrai di atas penggorengan besar sambil ditumbuk-tumbuk. Ketika ditumbuk daging ini membentuk serat-serat daging yang mirip gumpalan benang. Saat disangrai ini serat daging ditambahkan bumbu-bumbu penambah rasa, mirip gula jawa dan bawang goreng, terus diaduk sampai benar-benar kering. Selain itu, beberapa abon dengan kualitas rendah sering ditambahkan materi pengisi, mirip kacang koro pedang, dll.
